Through a research and interview process will create a Career Profile. You may choose anyone you wish as the subject of the profile. However, this person will have to provide you with a written resume for use in the final product. You will do this by completing a career assessment and developmental evaluation utilizing theory and concepts learned throughout the course. The paper will consist of three parts.
In Part One, you will create a written autobiography of your subject, addressing the following topic areas: demographics; personal and social history; educational history; vocational history; personality variables; cultural and socioeconomic variables; history of work stress and self care; and finally current occupation and future career goals.
In Part Two, you will identify one career development theory learned in the course (trait-oriented approach, a social learning and cognitive approach, a lifelong developmental approach, and a person-in-environment perspective) and provide a 1½ page overview of the theory. You will then examine your subject’s career history and development through the lens of your chosen theory.
In Part Three, you will identify any areas of improvement or focus in which, according to your assessment, if addressed would assist your subject in achieving their career goals. You will examine and provide a constructive critique of their written resume, and finally construct a career plan that will assist them in meeting their career goals. Please identify at least five specific goals/objectives in the career plan.
This paper should be between approximately 10 pages in length (not counting the resume and reference page.) The theory overview should be written in APA format and should include at least 2 additional references other than the book. You may use your book as a reference, however, all other references should be from legitimate sources. This includes: government websites, peer-reviewed journal articles (research), or books. If you are not certain about whether your source is scholarly or credible, please check with the instructor.
