The Pan Asian Network is organizing an event for this Wednesday from 12:30-1:30 to dispel the hysteria surrounding the coronavirus. The Wuhan coronavirus (2019-nCoV) is a newly discovered strain of a family of viruses that infect animals and sometimes humans. Since reaching North America and continuing to spread, it has begun spreading apprehension about where it may appear next and how many it will sicken or kill.
Instead of getting swallowed up by narratives promoting largely xenophobic and racist misconceptions surrounding the virus, join us for a teach-in from on Wednesday (2/5). With speakers such as Dr. Arias, a specialist in virus-host interaction research, we can come out better informed about what the coronavirus actually is, how it is transmitted, how it can be prevented, etcetera.
