Lab Report Guidelines

You should consider the last section of each lab experiment as well as 1.5 Report Preparation part when writing a lab report.

The Materials and Methods and results section should be written in the past tense, since your experiments are completed at the time you are writing your paper.

Your lab report should include the following sections:

Cover Page (0.5 pt)
 Include the title of the experiment, name, group number, and the date on which the experiment

was performed

Introduction(1 pt)

•  Purpose of experiment
•  Background InformationMaterials and Methods(2 pt)

•  Equipment Used
•  Schematic diagram of main equipment used (if required )
•  Test procedure generally contains information on the physical nature of the experiment, such asthe type of instrumentation used, the variables controlled and those that are not controlled, and any unusual conditions. Here is an example of a section of that type.The experiment was carried out with a Nicolet Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometer. The resolution of the spectrometer was set at 1 cm-1 for all spectra. The experiment involved the accumulation of a background spectrum which were subtracted from the spectrum of the sample to provide the response of the sample. The detector was a nitrogen-cooled cadmium-telluride detector. Each experiment resulted from the average 64 transient responses coadded, with the background spectrum being the accumulation of 64 spectra without the sample present. The data were analyzed by Fourier transformation using the software of the instrument. The data were saved to disk, and were subsequently analyzed with a spreadsheet program, in this case, Microsoft EXCEL. Results(4 pt)

•  Present your data using text AND figures/tables.
•  Describes your major findings in the data presented in the figures and tables.
•  Don’t interpret the data. It could be done in the Discussion section of the lab report.
•  All figures and tables are properly formatted with numbers, titles and legends that are easy to thereader to follow.
•  DO NOT ATTACH YOUR LAB DATA SHEET to show your results.Discussion(2 pt)

•  Summarize what you found.
•  Explain and interpret your results. It may involve comparison of the test results with existingempirical relationship
•  Source of errors if any
•  Other details not included in the reportReferences(0.5 pt)

• TEXTBOOK : Lab10 in 9th, Lab 12 in 8th
• Objective : To determine the optimum moisture content at which a given soil type will become most dense and achieve its maximum dry unit weight
• The degree of compaction of a soil is measured by its dry unit weight(γd). The dry unit weight of compaction increases as the moisture content increases until w=wopt. Beyond w=wopt, any increase in moisture content tends to reduce the dry unit weight.

Lab Report should

1. Write down the procedures described in the video(Missouri University,2012)
2. Present completed data tables 5-1 and 5-2, sample calculations, and the graph for plots of γd and γzav vs. w like Figure 5-1.
3. Report γd(max) and wopt.
4. Follow lab report guidelines under Modules/Lab Information on Canvas.

( u should be familiar with excel and its analysis)

A conclusion paragraph contains a description of the purpose of the experiment, a discussion of your major findings, an explanation of your findings, and recommendations for further study

please add data and results to the appendix section just like the way its done in example reports

u need to talk in past tense in all sections. dont forget to number tables and figures the same way in example reports.

if the report is a paraphrase only from examples, i will not accept it at all.

Course Project Guideline

Project Topics:

Applying human factors principles to improve working from home

Instructions:

First, you are required to find one journal paper related to the selected topic. Then, you are required to conduct a literature review related to the selected topic. The literature review should cover a wide range of papers that addressed the selected topic. Then, you are required to describe the problem statement of the paper that you found initially. Then describe the methods that were used in this paper, followed by the results of applying the method. After that discuss these results and their implications in industry and finally write a conclusion.

Report format:

Please use Times New Roman 12 point with single line spacing. Do not leave unnecessary spaces between paragraphs, figures or tables. The report should be about 10 pages. You report should include the following sections: Abstract, Introduction, Literature review, Problem statement, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion and References.

Grading:

You will be graded based on: how comprehensive your literature review is, how relevant you are to the selected topic, following the instructions and format in the report, number of references being used, number of pages, and how neat and organized your report is. Plagiarisms and copying are not allowed and will remarkably downgrade you.

Circuit Analysis – Week #1 Lab Voltage and Current Laws in Multisim

PRELIMINARY LAB INSTRUCTIONS:

Use the following Lab Report Template (also found in Tools and Templates) when submitting

your lab work.

Rules for lab submissions:

1. The lab document must be a Word document. PDF files are NOT accepted.

2. All screenshots must be included.

3. All screenshots must include the Multisim time stamp.

4. Any and all Multisim files must be submitted.

5. Calculations must be provided when relevant to show how you arrived at any

calculated numbers.

6. Any equations used must be typed in Word. Copy and paste of equations from

outside sources is prohibited.

7. No graphics are allowed in the Word document other than screenshots of

circuits from Multisim with the time stamp.

8. The lab template must be used. Specifically, it is brought to your attention that a

summary MUST be provided explaining the results of the labs, the relationship

of the results to expected results, and any challenges encountered. This is not

a personal reflection on the lab but rather a professional five sentence or more

summary of the lab. Any violation of the submission rules above will result in a grade of 1.

BACKGROUND RESEARCH:

In preparation for the lab, research what resistance tolerance is and what causes is. Think about the impact resistance tolerance would have on measured values in a circuit. While resistance tolerance means that a given resistance will have a different resistance other than the ideal, it will not fluctuate over a short period of time. Think about these questions before starting the lab as it will help you in the analysis: Why then in a physical electrical circuit do the measurements fluctuate? What are the other factors involved? Is there anything else which effects the resistance value when placed in a circuit in a certain location?

1) A very sensitive DC device operates at voltage of 10 V + 1V and current between 0.4 A and 0.6 A. The only available source is 18 V. Design a simple circuit with minimum number of resistors to supply the sensitive device. You need to use ohm’s law, KCL, KVL and parallel series connections.

2) An AC circuit has a resistor, a capacitor, and an inductor all connected in series. a. If R = 50 2,L = 50 mH, C = 10 µF, find the source frequency w so that the circuit consume pure real power. In other words, S = P b. If R = 10 N, L = 100 mH, w = 200 ad, Find the range of C that makes the load as seen by the source inductive load.

Q1. Explain two (2) ways in which property insurance is different from other types of insurances (vehicle, liability, life or contractor’s all risk).

Q2. Explain what services charges can be used in the Sultanate of Oman in Muscat real estate / rental market. The answer should include suggestions about any required changes to:

i. The type of service charge.

ii. The amount of the charge.

iii. The method by which the charges are measured.
