Background:

Literature reviews, a key component of research methods, indeed it calls for a high degree of academic maturity. A literature review may consist of simply a summary of key sources, but in the engineering, a literature review usually has a structural outline and combines both summary and synthesis, often within specific conceptual categories/themes. By synthesising you are expected to reorganize, or a reshuffling, of that information in a way that informs how you are planning to investigate a research problem. In addition to exhibiting the depth of your reading, they help demonstrate your grasp in the chosen research area.

Task:

In this coursework, Provide a report on critical review of literature on a research “Issues of Power Quality in Electrical System”. Following steps to be followed to prepare report:

• Collect appropriate resources ranging from journal papers, government reports, relevant standards, review of manufacturers’ data and other secondary data sources related to “Issues of Power Quality in Electrical System”.
• Within the main topic choose 5 relevant themes/sub-headings for discussion and review analysis.
• For each theme/ sub-heading present analysis of minimum 4 articles. (minimum 3 Journals + 1 any other sources)
• Report should mention research gaps in themes/ sub-headings and appropriate conclusion.

Question 4 (10 points):Mike withdrew $1,280 from a savings account and invested in common stock.At the end of 5 years, Mike sold the stock for $1,487.In the savings account he would have received an interest rate of 4%, compounded quarterly.He would like to compute a comparable interest rate on his common stock investment.

• Draw a cash flow diagram for the stock investment.
• What effective annual interest rate did he receive from the stock investment?
• Based on quarterly compounding, what nominal annual interest rate did he receive on his investment in stock?

Question 5 (10 points):Compute the present worth of the following cash flows given an interest of 5%.

Aim:

The aim of this assignment component is to examine the learning processes and communication skills, as well as, be able to make connections between theory and practice. This assignment is also designed to encourage them to become reflective practitioners in their future fields.

ASSIGNMENT QUESTION

You will be required to do ONE (1) Reflective Writing task based on microeconomics application in the real world. The reflective writing is meant to be open-ended and informal, yet creative.

Task(s)

Make a comprehensive technical report after completion of the internship in “Ofsat company co.”. The report should be clear and easy to understand for readers having general engineering information, and its length should not exceed 1500 words. Moreover, it should be signed by the student’s Supervisor at the company to assure accuracy and to ensure that no company sensitive information is compromised.

You should describe the overview of the host Industry which includes company background, major businesses, annual production, and major customers. This will serve as the detailed introduction to the organization.

3. Training Details

Training details is the most important content to be included in the report. In this part, you explain four manufacturing/production processes of the industry/company. Additionally, the work flow is to be explained clearly together with other assigned tasks that have been carried out during the industrial training session.

4. Recommendation

This part you should identify any two technical problems in the company which are related to its manufacturing/production processes. The identified problems will be discussed with appropriate technical solutions in different ways to pursue alternate paths on company operation and opportunities.

5. Maintenance Program

You should discuss in detail the major maintenance policy and procedure followed by the Industry/company. It will include discussion of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) practices regularly implemented.

We will be focusing on systems integration and test aspects of these case studies. Write a short paper highlighting your views on the case with respect to shortfalls in integration and/or test efforts. Do not forget to look at systems engineering processes (planning, requirements management, configuration management, risk analysis, etc) with respect to and how they support integration and test. Do not just regurgitate the case study back to me, I have already read it; I am looking for your views. One last thing, don’t give me a monolithic block of text, make sure I can clearly delineate the answers to the questions.

Papers should be no more than two pages. Address the following questions:

1. In systems engineering terms describe the fundamental problem (s) encountered.
   Example: “This appears to be a case where requirements were not clearly defined, analyzed and documented. No configuration management process was implemented and interfaces were not adequately defined…”

Project Requirements

• Determine the critical design loads, P_u, for each member of the truss
• Design all the truss members
• Design the connections
• Complete the design drawings (a similar drawing will be provided separately as an example)

Dead Load (DL) includes the estimated self-weight of the members, purlins and the weight of the material covering the roof surface. Additionally, you have snow loads, wind loads and earthquake loads.

DESIGN the connections of the truss as well.

You can use structural analysis software such as RISA3D to perform structural analysis portion of your project, but the design of truss members and the connections must be carried out by hand solutions and reported separately. You can use any CAD software to present the final design.
